Excerpt from, "Ricky, the Rickety Rocking Chair"
“Look dear, tomorrow is garbage day and I think that the chair has seen better days. I’m afraid it has to go and it’s going tonight!”
Tonight? What’s wrong with in the morning? Look buster I don’t want to be outside overnight. Do you know what kinda varmints creep around out there after dark?
Woe is me, no one could hear my pleas for help.
“Well whatever you think is best dear.” Mrs. Snodergrass knew better than to try and change her husband’s mind once it was made up. I wish Bootsie would have put up a little bit more fight for me. I guess I didn’t mean that much to her after all.
~
NOOOO!! I don’t want to go! I won’t complain about that Moose anymore, I’ll let him climb all over me if you let me stay. Pleeeeeeeease. All my pleadings went by the way, it did me no good, they weren’t listening. I was afraid my fate was sealed.
But I fixed that old man Snodergrass, I wasn’t about to make it easy for him to get rid of me. When we went through the doorway I stuck my foot out and caught the edge of the door. He wiggled me loose but I wasn’t going to give up that easy. When he tried again I stuck my arms out and held onto the door jam with all my might.
NOOOO! I cried again. I won’t go!!!
