All 4 kids have read your 1st book. Kayla read all 3 of them.
Here are their ages: Dillon (Grade 3), Brandon (Grade 5), Kayla & Melanie (Grade 7)
Book 1: “The Rocking Chair Rescue”
Dillon read it in 22 minutes. He liked the pictures and he struggled with a couple of words on each page, but understood the story well. He didn’t learn anything though, and wasn’t that engaged.

Brandon read it in 18 minutes. He liked the pictures, struggled on maybe one word on each page but understood the story well and learned the lesson of working together to accomplish something for someone else. He also picked up on the sibling relationships theme. He laughed out loud about the buddy buddy game. Brandon enjoyed the book and doesn’t really love reading that much.
Melanie took less than 15 minutes to read. She liked it because you described their relationship well and taught the readers how to work together. Pictures were cute and she liked the part about working together and that it makes a big difference.
Kayla read it in about 10 minutes. She enjoyed the sweetness of the story and immediately picked up on the moral of the story. She said it was uplifting story and she enjoys teamwork as the theme.
I will let you know how book 2 goes!

Nicholas (8) and Kurtis (10) have mentioned that they thought both of your books are "awesome".  Our eldest son James (12) also mentioned that he really enjoyed reading them especially knowing they are based on true stories.

I like how Davey and Kathy played together in the sandbox.  I liked that Davey helped Kathy when they were getting the rocking chair down from the pile, and glad they didn't fall.  It was funny the way Davey dragged Kathy to get the chair.  I liked that they got the chair for their Mom.

I am a mother who loves to read to her children.  I have a boy age five and a daughter age two.  From publication date of Kat's first book, The Rocking Chair Rescue, I have purchased her children's books from her personally.  My children LOVE her books.  As a parent, it is important to me that the material that I read my children also teaches some value.  And Kat delivers an important value in every book.  Her second children's book, Lost and Found was a great addition.  My children and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Kat and her mother when they came to Harwood Elementary in Vernon.  Kat is very personable with children.  All three of us are anticipating the publication of all the rest of the books in the Davey and Kathy series.  I would highly recommend these books to any parent, or anyone who loves to read to kids :-))

Sincerely,

I started reading your Bio last night, and while I did manage to put it down and read Harry Potter to the kids at bedtime, it was the first thing I picked up this morning (after my glasses). I read all day until I finished. I feel like I know you so well now, because of your honest and straightforward writing. Isn't it amazing how the human spirit is made to keep going! ...

My sons, Anthony and Bronson, were so excited that we had met a "real author." I read The Rocking Chair Rescue twice to them before bedtime (so that was as important as Harry Potter ... because it came first.)
Anyhow, I have since been reading The Rocking Chair Rescue on a regular basis .... Bronson requests it every couple of nights. They like the part when Davey and Kathy go out and brings home the chair ... something they would love to do, I think.

Shortly after receiving my copy of "The Rocking Chair Rescue" I had my two-year-old grandson visit me for a few days. Every night I would read him a story. While he enjoys most stories I will never forget his reaction to your book. When we got to the "buddy buddy" part of the story he giggled harder than I have ever heard him giggle. This of course got me giggling.

Thank you for an evening I will not soon forget. Oh by the way, I enjoyed your adventure and my grandson was also mesmerized by the colourful illustrations. This is a well written book and one we will be reading more than once.
