Review of “Shores of Deliverance”
by
Kate Blackwell
ISBN: 1-55748-437-6
RATE: ♥♥♥♥♥
I’m not sure why Lawana
Blackwell would not be proud of her early work. Yes, this author is none other
than our beloved Lawana Blackwell. It’s plain to see that even from her early
writings; Lawana knew how to hold her reader’s attention.

After Sarah learns her friend Violet is in trouble, she and her husband go above and beyond to help. Having been the reason Violet was freed from slavery four years earlier, Sarah is going to do everything in her power to keep her friend from going to jail!
Once Violet is rescued, the small group heads across the ocean to England. What awaits Sarah when she returns to the land where she was born, and worked as a servant girl all her life, before escaping a cruel employer? Will she be strong enough to face her future?
One of Violet’s fears is being the only Negro in all of England, will her fears be realized? When she finds not only a job, but a business partnership with an unlikely fellow, is love in her future as well?
This story is not without its share suspense. You’ll be on the edge of your seat until you reach the end. I don’t want to give anything away, but you won’t be sorry you picked up this well told, fast moving can’t-wait-to-see-what-happens story. Be prepared for a few good chuckles as well!
By the way, I picked up this little gem, as well as, Shores of Promise on Amazon.com .
