Well what can I say? I did enjoy this book, however …, and there sometimes needs to be a however. My Mom has read several of Ms Copeland’s’ books, and enjoyed them, but this was the first Lori Copeland book I’ve read. I can only compare this writing style to what I have read by other authors, I mean, what else can I do?

The story is a good one, young Wynne Elliot travels to River Run, Missouri from her home, or what’s left of it in Savannah, Georgia after the war in 1865. She is bound and determined to wreak her revenge on Cass Claxton, who left her standing outside the church on their wedding. How dare he leave her at church! She’s about to show him – she is bent on killing the weasel!

A kink is thrown into her plan when the stagecoach she is traveling in, is held up and all her money is stolen. However, (there’s another one) two brothers on their way home from the war intervene and only two lives are lost. The masked riders are driven off and the brothers bring the stagecoach and bodies into town.

There are a couple of problems now; Wynne has no money and no place to stay. Feeling sorry for her, Beau, one of the brothers, decides to take her home to their Ma, cause Ma would be ashamed of her son if he didn’t bring the lost traveler home for a spell.

Another problem is Cole, the other brother, who has not hit it off with Miss High and Mighty Elliot and he is not happy with his brother’s charitable offer. His homecoming is, to say the least, somewhat dampen, but that’s only the beginning.

After a few days with her adopted family, Wynne discovers, to her horror, just whose family this is. After going a few rounds with Cole, Wynne sets off the next morning with her few remaining possessions, and her pawnable pearl ring, which was recovered from the thieves. I won’t spoil the plot and say why Cole decides to follow her, but let’s just say the rest of the story is the tale of Wynne on her mission to hunt down Cass Claxton and put a bullet through his heart!

Talk about making a short story, long – the writer does just that. Although, (not quite a however) it’s an interesting read, and at times tremendously entertaining, It is well written, and at times Ms Copeland will have you laughing out loud with her phrases. However, J there are several places it’s just a tad boring.

Once there’s been a conversation, I don’t feel the need to rewrite the whole thing when one of characters is recalling what was said. It’s too redundant for my liking and causes me to lose interest.

Redundancies aside, I don’t think you’ll be too disappointed in this tale of two opposites!
