Too Many Speed Bumps: A Journey of Healing, is the continuation of Katharine L. Kroeker's remarkable story. Although Katharine faces new life challenges, or as she refers to them, "speed bumps of life," she faces each one with an incredibly positive attitude. Any one of these "speed bumps" would be enough to cripple someone else.

After a significant loss, Katharine faces many momentous decisions that will affect her future. As she learns to deal with each new speed bump, she sees the lessons learned.

Katharine watches as her family and collapses around her, as well as experiencing betrayal by both family and friends. She faces still more surgeries, and yet, through it all, she builds an inner strength that will see her through just about anything.

The Rocking Chair Rescue

This is the first in a series of illustrated children's books by Katharine L. Kroeker. The source for these stories is her autobiography, Too Much For One Lifetime: Book One. The series follows Kathy and Davey, her older brother, as they grow. Katharine will share what it was like to discover she had what was known as "an old person's disease" while still quite young. She also shares the humorous side of life, never being one to let life get her down, no matter how dark things may have seemed. In episode #1, The Rocking Chair Rescue you’ll find an intriguing, delightful story of discovery and a brother and sister working together for someone else.

Katharine has taken poetic license in the writing of all these stories to make them more interesting and enjoyable for the younger reader.

Ricky, the Rickety Rocking Chair

Ricky is an unexpected episode in this series and is Katharine's first published work of fiction. Ricky's story is also different from the other episodes in that it is a longer story, (almost 5,000 words) and we have left the illustrations uncoloured so that the reader may be a part of the "finishing" process." There is also a Ricky's WordFind in the back of the book making this an activity book. The inspiration for Ricky's story came from a teacher during one of Katharine's author visits and she has dedicated the book to that teacher. If you enjoyed The Rocking Chair Rescue you will enjoy reading the story from the chair's perspective. Ricky has a bit of an attitude which makes this a delightfully entertaining story. Find out what Ricky's life was like before being rescued by Davey & Kathy.

Lost and Found

This second episode of The Adventures of Davey & Kathy focus on the events that follow when Kathy doesn't listen to her oldest sister. After wandering around for awhile she finds herself lost. Afraid of what is going to become of her she finds help in an unlikely source. You'll be intrigued by the relationship that develops between Kathy and her rescuer. This story, as all the stories in this series, has an important lesson.

Fawn Boucock's wonderful illustrations help to bring this story to life. This is Fawn's first book illustration but we are sure it will not be her last.
